Paul Asbury Seaman With so much atmospheric ambient/e.m. full of gloom and doom or “field recording” clichés, I’m amazed that something in this vein can still cause me to feel this excited about it. The subtlety here is clean and refreshing, even given the dark subject matter. The minimal instrumentation and effects give these tracks room to breathe—and for the listener to discover their own place in the landscape: lonely and weary, but also comforting and not without hope. Favorite track: Western Dreaming.

This album is just a little audio journal that I kept during my recent trip through the valley. Those who have also walked that road might recognize a few sights and sounds, smells and sensations, and a special quality to the light.

The music is pure ambience, mostly abstract, with an emphasis on shapes not tones. Best listening is at low volume in a dark room with a bitter brew.
